Zoezmum Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I just saw that there was a movie coming out called "The Hunt". This movie shows liberals hunting conservatives AKA deplorables for sport. What is the SDA stance on guns for protection. David slew Goliath with a weapon. God has called around where people are killed and lands protected using weapons. Are we allowed to protect our family with a weapon, or just let people kill and torture us our children, or mother/father or spouses? I believe that we are in the end times, and this is a serious issue. Quote
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted August 9, 2019 Moderators Posted August 9, 2019 This issue is an individual choice. I consider it to be highly unlikely that a SDA congregation would act against a member for doing such. I also point out that there are many members of the police forces who are SDA members. I am reminded of a well-known SDA clergy person who has served as a missionary in a nation overseas, who in that position at times was armed with a weapon. He is now dead, of natural causes, so I will not name him. Quote Gregory
8thdaypriest Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 We had a guest at our home about a year ago. In the course of conversation my husband mentioned something about my 38. What in the world does Rachel need with a 38! - she asked loudly. I told her how I came out to the living room one morning, to find a old, chewed up, intact pit-bull on my back porch. Both my dogs were cowering in the corner. (Normally they are very friendly.) We have a problem here in the country with dog fighting rings just dumping "worn out" dogs. There IS no animal control out here. Last time I called the sheriff about a dog pack, they asked if I had a gun, then told me to "shoot the leader". "The rest will scatter." Anyway, I got my 38, put the bead on him and shot him. He ran about 30 feet before he fell over dead. "Oh," said my guest. "I hadn't thought of that possibility." phkrause and JoeMo 2 Quote 8thdaypriest
