Bitter Water Exodus 32:20

Exodus 32:20  "And he (Moses) took the calf which they had made and burned it with fire, and ground it to powder, and scattered it over the surface of the water, and made the sons of Israel drink it. (NAS)

I was thinking about the symbolism of the water from that Rock.

The only "water" available for Moses to mix the powder into, was the water from the smitten Rock

This has some interesting symbolism possibilites.  At the end of this age, all rebels will have to "drink" the ground powder of Satan's kingdom/image, mixed with the "water" from the smitten Rock/Christ.  That water will bring realization, but it won't heal them.

If one does not "drink the pure water" (from Jesus) before his false gods are "ground to powder", then he will have to "drink the bitter water" later.

Come to think of it, Moses sprinkled the powder of that idol over the whole water source for the camp
The Levites had to drink that water too.  They were not exempted.   And we are not exempted.
We have all set up "gods" in our hearts.  And we are forced to "drink a cup" of what we once worshiped.

Brings to mind the third trumpet (Rev 8:10-11).  A third of the springs/waters are made bitter by a burning star that falls from heaven.

There is so much symbolism and so many "models" of prophecy (much of it history for us "end-of-the-agers") on the OT!  Just like the deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt was a model of our deliverance at the Second Coming.
