Happy Blessed 8th Day

Did you know there is a Feast of the 8th Day?  It follows Tabernacles.  Some call it the 8th day of Tabernacles, but it is really a "convocation" of its own.  

Leviticus 23:36 "For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it."

Numbers 29:35 "On the eighth day you shall have a sacred assembly. You shall do no customary work."

Seven days they commemorated wandering in the wilderness, in temporary shelters.  On the 8th Day they celebrated home coming.  No longer wandering.

At the dedication of Solomon's Temple: 

2 Chronicles 7:9 "And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly, for the dedication of the altar they observed seven days, and the feast seven days."  v.11 "Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD and the king's house, and Solomon successfully accomplished all that came into his heart to make in the house of the LORD and in his own house." 

We know this was at the Feast in the 7th month from 2Chron 5:3. 

At the rebuilding of the Temple after the return from Babylon:

Nehemiah 8:17-18 "And the entire assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and lived in them. The sons of Israel had indeed not done so from the days of Joshua the son of Nun to that day. And there was great rejoicing.  And he read from the book of the law of God daily, from the first day to the last day. And they celebrated the feast seven days, and on the eighth day there was a solemn assembly according to the ordinance."

Did you notice the whopping long time they had not celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles - all the time from Joshua to Nehemiah.  Wow!  That's a lot of neglect.   But how can that be true if the 8th day "solemn assembly" took place at the dedication of Solomon's Temple?  That happened long after Joshua, and hundreds of years before the Babylonian captivity. 

Just asking.  Is this a contradiction?
