Daniel 2; The New Age

Hi All

I was shown something this morning, during my devotional time, in 2 Corinthians that relates to our lives today. What does it have to do with Daniel 2? I have argued in a letter on my web at The New Age that Daniel chapter two, the Dream of the Image that is smashed by a stone from Heaven, depicts Jesus and His death. The first advent of Jesus, the Cross, brings a close to the Kingdom of Israel on Earth. Thus the Curtain is torn in the Temple. However, the coming of the Holy Spirit in Acts is the begining of the new Kingdom powered by the Holy Spirit. Thus the stone in Daniel 2 becomes a great mountain that fills the earth.

There is more to it than this and I will be continueing to work on the teaching in the future.

The implications of this are very important to us as Christians and Adventist. We must be walking in the Spirit, have a devotional life that motivates us, to be in the Kingdom of God. Paul says that we are sealed by the Holy Spirit (not by Keeping Sabbath). Everything I have learnt over the last 15 years is starting to come together. Please have a look at what I have written on the site above and give me some feedback. It surprises me that a people as versed in the Bible as this denomination is, has take so long to come to some of these conclusions.

However, I have found that for everyday Christians as you put it, the Holy Spirit will often have already led them to the Sabbath, and if He has not, exposure to it will result in a heart conviction that leads them where you are ministering.

It does NOT however, guarantee they will join the SDA church. Just that they will worship on the Sabbath day, as I do.

Your interpretation of Daniel 2 is interesting and worthy of chewing on for a while. It is possible that you are correct, but I will reserve comment on that portion of your writings.

I have found this to be true, though. All prophecy has more than one application. It's fulfillments are found in type, type anti-type, final fulfillment patterns.

The traditional interpretation of Daniel 2 would be a type, there is a second, a false and then the final fulfillment. I do not believe your interpretation to be false, but am not quite willing to elevate it to one of the "type"s.

It will require more study and prayer on my part.

Just a side bar. Do you think the Holy Spirit would seal a person, while that person is believing and practicing conclusions known to be inconsistent with other revelations from the Word?

The answer would seem to be important to anyone resting their peace on harmony with the Word of God as expressing Jesus.

It is a reference to an event that is spoken of in Revelation.

John the Revelator states that at the time of the end, just as there will be a "mark of the beast" so will there be it's equal and opposite, the Seal of Abba.

John states that those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life, will receive, from the Holy Spirit, the Seal of Abba in their forehead. It is this that is being referred to by LHC and everyday.

I think the Holy Spirit "leads" us all in to the Truth. It is an onging process. We are all sealed with the Holy Spirit while we are on that path. It is when we get off the path along which He is leading us, when we drive Him away by ignoring Him, that the seal is removed, I believe. As Jesus said, we must not greive the Holy Spirit, as that is the one sin that cannot be forgiven.

So having a walk in the Spirit is everything to Christians. Everything <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/1_prayer001.gif" alt="" />

To be sealed means that we have both God's approval, and His authority. We become like a letter to the world, as Paul puts it in 2 Corinthians. As long as the Holy Spirit remains in us, we represent God on Earth. This is what causes so much pain in our churches. Many people who go to church do it our of habit, or for social interaction, or financial gain, and other reasons. Those people who take the name SDA, or Baptist or whatever, represent that orgainisation, and God, to the community around them. Problem is, if they are not walking everyday with God's Spirit in them, as I have failed to do in my past, than they misrepresent God, or blaspheme (means to misrepresent God). Without the Holy Spirit, I believe it is very difficult to love. I know peole whom I beleive walk in the Spirit of God, who don't even profess Christianity. One man in particular is married to a dedicated SDA women, professes to be atheist, but is the most trustworthy and generous person you could ever hope to meet. I beleive that the Holy Spirit dwells in that home, and He simply breaths Him in and lives the Christian life without ever professing Christ. That is just my opinion.

For me, to be sealed with the Holy Spirit I have to have my devotional time every day. And it pays off. <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/luxhello.gif" alt="" />

I like your response Clio, and I would like to add to it. Paul says this several times:

Eph 1:13 in whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation,-- in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

Eph 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption.

2Co 1:22 who also sealed us, and gave us the pledge of the Spirit in our hearts.

Eph 5:18 And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;

This is what I want, and I want it for you guys as well. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is the key to surviving and enjoying everyday Christian life.

I find no difficulty with that conclusion. However I find the Holy Spirit often courts the unbelieving long before they choose to follow the Path.
