Rep. Tom DeLay left Congress today after representing Texas for 22 years. He resigned after being indicted in connection with an investigation into political donations.

During his farewell address Thursday, DeLay told colleagues that partisanship "is not a symptom of democracy's weakness but of its health and its strength, especially from the perspective of a political conservative."

The former house majority leader said that if given the chance to do it all again, he would change only one thing -- he'd fight even harder for the issues he believes in.

DeLay's departure comes as his majority party struggles with a series of scandals and low approval ratings for president bush.

DeLay says the charges against "him" are politically motivated and insists he'll be exonerated.

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.
