I'm not a Unitedstatesian so I do try to avoid opinions on US domestic politics, but I do note that in most elections in most countries there are usually 2 reasonable contenders for high office. In many countries a vote for a non-contending 3rd party can be meaningful as such 3rd (or 4th or 5th, etc.) parties have influence in the legislature. But in the US this option is largely illusory. So the choice in November 2016 was between 2 immoral, fallible human beings with different styles, approaches, qualities, faults, etc. One would do well to ponder the wisdom of Alexandr Solzhenitsyn from The Gulag Archipelago "If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?" This statement coincides with Jesus' view expressed in Luke 18:19, and St. Paul's numerous references to his own depravity. Given the choices available to United States citizens in 2016 it is not reasonable to proclaim that Adventists must have perforce preferred one of the options to the other. Now many would like to split the SDA church in the United States along political lines, with one side supporting Trump, Doug Batchelor, male headship, and the oil industry and the other supporting an unnamed Democrat, Dan Jackson, Sandra Roberts, Women's ordination and environmental consciousness. A handful on both sides think the church isn't big enough for everyone. Why support for Trump and views on climate science should correlate with support for male headship, and why opposite views on such unrelated issues similarly correlate, is a mystery. I suspect such correlation is related to the need of some folks to have an identity. A handful from the Trump/male headship/no climate change gang shared the view up to about a week ago that the covid-19 measures were excessive (they usually refer to it as the Wuhan virus or the China virus to identify themselves as an acolyte of the president). Again, why views on the virus ought to correlate with one's views on taxation or abortion has no explanation other than the need to belong to a group. Fortunately, many people on both sides of the USA political divide have lined up to support the public health measures implemented to combat the spread of covid-19 and correctly see that (a) it is not a left/right issue; (b) it is not a state power grad; (c) it is not a "test-run" on state control for the dreaded "Sunday Law" that some still think is coming; (d) it is not an attack on the church. I just do not accept what he does. The Bible says we are to love our enemies and I do. He is the one who is always hating and mistreating others. If people stand up for justice he is the one who trashes them and tried to hurt them. He really don't care for you as well if he did he would have taken care of this problem with the virus before January. He put this on the Democrats that we were doing a hoax. Really! I cannot fathom how so many are blinded by a man who does not care if you live or died! Many following him are not taken heed to the problem. I cherish every Scripture you provided because it points to those who will keep all of HIS Commandments, HIS Statutes, HIS Laws and HIS Word. It is left to all of us to search the Scriptures, that means to research them thoroughly. The Scriptures also says to prove all things and hold on to those things that are good. I appreciate your comment and I want to you to know, it is not easy to stand against the crowd. The hardest thing to do is say hey what you believe is not right, it is wrong. But the pioneers did it, and many others who find out that Biblical Scholars like those leaders of old put no difference between the Holy and the unholy. I remember clearly the day that I had to make a choice to even tell others the message. It has been difficult times for me and I battle daily why put myself out for this. But, I recall my youth when I turned my back on all my mother taught me to another life. Yet, when I needed help she and THE MOST HIGH was there for me in spite of my rebellion. From my youth, my gift was to read Adventist Books. The books were the SDA Commentary Vol. 1 and many of EGW's writings. In Church School I was taught the history and faith of the pioneers and also, the history of this church. Back then we did not believe in the trinity and the health message was king in our faith. We were on fire and were Bible workers waiting for the tents to be put up for new souls to be saved. Many people joined our faith even through many others ridicule us of being an occult. However, there were many questions that bother me as a little girl. Why would only use the word God just for THE FATHER? Wasn't Jesus a God also the Holy Ghost. Which is it the Holy Ghost or THE HOLY SPIRIT? So many questions I would ask my mother, pastors and leaders over the years vs history and world religion classes that provided facts and evidence. Yes, there were many lies, but it was always those who were Christian as I called myself back then too. But I had to pray when I return to THE MOST HIGH to learn the truth and to stand for it against the odd. I have learned so much from others even here on this forum and it has helped me to stand even more firm to give an answer to those like Photodued. It truly disturbs me that he thinks I hate him or even the man in the White House. I use to associate around people who were immoral as I was myself. I have not always sought to be obedient to the Word. I once was Satan greatest Champion in sinful things. That's why Solomon heed us to remember our CREATOR in the days of our youth. We don't, and we plant seeds of sin that we can never take back. I am here to stand firm for THE ONE I denied in my teens through my thirties. So, I come just to provide to you what I know historically to be the facts. It is up to all of to search out what is given for us to see if it is true or not. Don't just turn a deaf ear without first praying and being open minded enough to check out the sources. We all give websites and other sources for each one of us to view. Is this issue any different? Yes, I said Paul never called himself a Christian, am I wrong? Do we just accept things base on the prestige of the person? Don't we exam other things of importance? What's more important than your soul? If I am wrong, please show me because I desperately want to be save! I too want answers to questions and I want them because my life depends on knowing the truth! When I write it is my earnest concern for truth and nothing but the truth. I cannot say anything about anyone here but myself and how I feel. I feel trouble as I read some of these comments. My soul ache for YAHSHUA to come. I am so tired of sin and I want desperately to eradicated it out of my life! I have been through so much and I want peace. I want others to be saved! I ache to see people dying and I wonder did they know about THE SAVIOUR who die for them? Death is all around us now with the CORVID-19. Many are not taking the heed to isolate so they could help spread the virus that is causing death. People are out of work some for good since this has happen.
