Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted May 1, 2020 Moderators Posted May 1, 2020 See: https://spectrummagazine.org/views/2020/eschatology-time-pandemic NOTE: Consequently, I think there is a certain embarrassment among Christians who are literate enough to be aware of past incautious pronouncements. Within Adventism it’s almost a cottage industry to peddle eschatological nonsense. We all know the Aesop fable of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” We presumably wouldn’t want to make that mistake, and expose our Christian faith to deserved ridicule. And that’s good. But the flip side is to inappropriately pre-assign this significant world event into the “wolf-cry” category. So, what to do? phkrause and BlessedMan 1 1 Quote Gregory
JoeMo Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 I'm reading some commentaries by Dr. Chuck Missler on the 4 Horsemen of Revelation. Something he said that impressed me - "These are terrible warning signs of impending disaster. It is not our job to predict the future; divination is expressly prohibited in the Torah. ... We do not use them to foretell, but to take as warnings and we praise God when they take place. [A] Greek statesman said it well.: 'the key is not to predict the future, but to be prepared for it.' We have no obligation to predict the future, but we do have an obligation to be prepared for whatever storms are coming." Quote

Surprising (to me) coming from Spectrum. I believe that scripture would enthusiastically support his conclusion at the end: Quote “I am against adjournment. The day of judgment is either approaching, or it is not. If it is not, there is no cause for an adjournment; if it is, I choose to be found doing my duty. I wish therefore that candles may be brought.” I can’t think of better counsel in the midst of the current crisis. What is your duty? You should be going about it. And bring candles. Others might need your light. When "Johnny Appleseed" was asked what he would do if he knew the world would end tomorrow, he simply said: "Id plant apple trees." Thats why Jesus asked: "When The Son of Man returns, will He find faith on the earth?" There will be professed "Sabbath-keepers" who are completely ignoring their God-given duties that lie nearest to them, thereby, ignoring all scripture similar to this: "Whatsoever the hand finds to do; do it with all your might, as unto The Lord." MUCH of the "Sabbath-keeping" we are seeing, actually isnt. Quote (2 Cor 1:3-4) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
