I would be interested to explore this subject, to include this verse. What does this mean for us, today? Especially the part in red? How are we to view what Christ has accomplished here?

(2 Cor 1:3-4) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Here's how the CJB translates this verse:

25 Yeshua, who was delivered over to death because of our offences and raised to life in order to make us righteous.

Personally I like this translation better than the one you posted!! At least this particular verse! It seems to make it a little more understandable, don't you think?

Also I suggest reading the SDABC Volume 6 on this verse pgs 520-521.

Thank you for this reply. I really appreciate it. Yes, the CJB version of the verse sounds better! But I am struggling to make sense out of this verse.  So I thought I would just put it out there. I have no hidden agenda. Just wondering how others see it, and what kinds of implications said verse should have for us. I will check out that reference and come back here.

I understand this (& I could be wrong) to mean that not only did Christ have to die - He also had to rise from the dead. Without the Resurrection any preaching pertaining to Jesus is vain and the faith anyone would have in Jesus would also be vain. Jesus coming into the world, what He did prior to His Death and what happened after His Resurrection was all according to Prophecy - it all had to happen.

This is actually a very good point to dwell upon. In terms of "what did Christ accomplish," the "cross is enough" crowd seem to circumscribe the ministry of Christ to just the crucifixion. And while "the cross actually is enough" "the cross" seems to me right now to be a range of doctrines, that collectively make up the whole MESSAGE. (as opposed to "messages.")

The life of Christ, at each stage, was/is instrumental in our salvation:

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (John 1:4)

"In Him was life; and the life was the light of men." It is not physical life that is here specified, but eternal life, the life which is exclusively the property of God. The Word, who was with God, and who was God, had this life. Physical life is something which each individual received. It is not eternal or immortal; for God, the Lifegiver, takes it again. Man has no control over his life. But the life of Christ was unborrowed. No one can take this life from Him. "I lay it down of myself," He said. In Him was life, original, unborrowed, underived. This life is not inherent in man. He can possess it only through Christ. He cannot earn it; it is given him as a free gift if he will believe in Christ as his personal Saviour. "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." Joh_17:3. This is the open fountain of life for the world. (ST Feb. 13, 1912).  {5BC 1130.3}

Now, granted, the "life referred to in John 1:4 is most likely to be "eternal life," according to my reading, but I think it would be hard for any serious Bible student to pass by the entire life of Jesus; see Isa 53 for starters. Is it any wonder that the prophet started out by saying:
