Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted May 16, 2020 Moderators Posted May 16, 2020 To many Seventh-day Adventists, Little Richard was an enigma. Over the years of his life he regularly transitioned between the world of rock & roll and the SDA Church. For a while he studied at what was then Oakwood College, a SDA school where he started on a degree program for aspiring SDA Clergy. But, he never completed it. He was never ordained as SDA Clergy, but, he was ordained by a little known denomination. At one time he went into independent evangelism, not sponsored by any other than himself. I attended one of those meetings where he preached the gospel. He was well-known by Stan, the owner of this forum, for his purchase and distribution of SDA books. Even when he was fully into rock & roll His participation was colored with elements of Adventist culture and belief. He acknowledged that at times he was deep into the world of sin and working for the devil. Now, Little Richard sleeps in the grave. I do not claim to know what his final decisions was as to to spending eternity with God. What I do know is that he was loved by God and that it was never too late for Little Richard to make a final choice to spend eternity with God. Just as it was never too late for Little Richard, it is never too late for any of us. The plan of salvation that God put into place is sufficient to save every person who has ever lived. None are excluded, except by their choice. Dr. McNeely my former pastor of Maranatha SDA Church in Atlanta Georgia and Richard was tight! Dr. McNeely was an excellent evangelist and Richard came many times to tell his story. The music Director and I were tight and we became close friends of Richard. I saw Richard change even waver over the years. But he begin to change his life. Now, I can't read his heart or his mind, that is left up to THE HOLY SPIRIT! He died of bone cancer but I was told he was faithful and steadfast! Richard was from August and his has a large family who truly loved him. I hope that his changed life will have an affect on his family and friends that can change their individual life. All of us struggle over sin in our lives as Richard has! But if we allow THE HOLY SPIRIT to clean up we will become changed. That's my story about Richard! Blessings! Members phkrause Posted May 16, 2020 Members Posted May 16, 2020 I never actually met him, but he came to Camp Berkshire one summer for camp meeting! I felt sad for him because of the way the Adventist Church paraded him around or showed him off to people, if I'm not mistaken in those early years he would come and go from the church?? To all please forgive I made a mistake about Richard's hometown it was Macon Georgia. I don't why I said Agusta, I had it on my brain because of another famous person. Blessings! phkrause 1 Quote
