An elderly woman walked into congregation Beth Israel. The shul always placed someone from the welcoming committee at the door to act as an usher of sorts. He greeted her and recognizing that she was not from in town he asked her politely, "Where would you like to sit?"

"The front row please," she answered.

"You really don't want to do that," the usher said. "The Rabbi is really boring."

"Do you happen to know who I am?" the woman inquired.

"No," he said.

"I'm the Rabbi’s mother," she replied indignantly.

"Do you know who I am?" he asked.

"No," she said.

"Phew," he answered.
