Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 20, 2006 Members Posted June 20, 2006 One of the things I've found hardest to understand about Christianity is that Jesus died for the sins of humanity - that He died in my place. I mean, this is the SON OF GOD I'm talking about!!! I and my pagan friends could never understand why ANYONE would willingly die in someone else's stead - (though I *have* read of instances where this happened...in Auschwitz concentration camp, for example, where a Christian prisoner offered himself up in place of one of the Jewish prisoners). We, my friends and I, were always quite willing to be responsible for whatever *sins* we were guilty of...we didn't want *anyone* to take the responsibility - it just didn't seem right or honorable to let someone else to take the blame. So it's been a rather amazing discovery for me that, whether or not I or anyone else wanted Him to do it, that's exactly what Jesus did! The Son of God took the blame. wow. ::shakes head:: It's still hard to fathom. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Administrators Gail Posted June 20, 2006 Administrators Posted June 20, 2006 You are right- it sure is The Bible even says so, that you would scarcely find someone who would die for a good man, in his place. Jesus died for us while we were yet sinners! Boggles my mind, too But He did it because that is what the redemption from our sins cost. You know how awful you feel under the weight of your own sins- everyone carries a similar burden. Jesus forgives us of our sins to remove the burden, because it has been taken care of, and then gives us power over those sins by changing our hearts. I know that you know all this, but it is nonetheless astounding to think about it as a personal thing Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

It sealed a Blood Covenant that literally adopted into the direct Bloodline of Abba Father all those who enter into the Covenant with Him through Calvary. He even provided the gifts given at a Blood Covenant sealing, armor and fine clothing. We receive the armor in Ephesians 6, and Jesus Himself promises fine clothing, suitable for a wedding. When this covenant was ratified and accepted by Jesus ascension to His Father, remember when He told them "Touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to my Father"?, Abba Himself became bound by the terms of the Blood Covenant. We became joint heirs with True Jesus. And thus we receive from Abba all that He extends to Jesus Himself. It is a wonderous thing... amazing, and almost impossible for the human mind to fathom... yet true. And only the Son of the King could make it so... and it had to be completely voluntary, given in love. The bonds of a blood covenant can be offered in love, but never taken in hate. Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
Moderators Gerr Posted June 20, 2006 Moderators Posted June 20, 2006 You can surely take responsibility for your sins, Pam, but that would mean YOU have to die for them. Or let Someone else carry them for you and let you go free. Gerry Quote

Satan is to blame for sin, not God. Christ as man took the curse of the law, which is God abandonment (no hope of a resurrection). Just a technical point, Rob Quote
