Well I grew up in Seattle and went to high school and college in Minnesota. I have only been living in deep, south Texas for 8 years.

42% Dixie. Really strange, because most of my answers were common from the Great Lakes region, but I was raised in the "great" west--Colorado and Wyoming. I didn't answer any of the answers as "southern." This is an odd questionnaire.

It is an odd questionnaire. It labels one as being either one or the other, but the questions have answers from other regions. Interestingly enough, of all my answers (and I scored a 65% Dixie) only one gave any "hint" that I'm of a southern nature.

93% southern. Which makes sense, I guess, since I grew up in rural east Texas. But I've lived in enough other places to recognize most of the alternate words.

I was disappointed on the question about the fizzy drink not to have the option of "cold drink." I remember signs painted on the walls of little country gas stations that said, "Gas. Food. Cold drinks." It was at least as common as "Coke."

Out of curiosity, is it a good thing to be a Yankee Doodle, or a good thing to be a Southern Rebel? Is there a connotation that goes with one or the other??

I scored 60%, barely in Dixie. Hee, Hee!! I lived in "Dixie" for about 13 years, if you count Florida as being in "Dixie". Took me a while to adjust to a different "culture" in Colorado!!

I scored 34%. I was raised in Florida and my father was as dixie as you can get....he was born and raised in WV. I guess it didn't rub off on me. I had my sister take the test and she scored 53%. No good or bad about it, IMO - just interesting to see the regionalisms. I wish the test results included the other regions mentioned in the answers.

Several of my answers are labeled as from the Great Lakes region, which is accurate, since that is where I have lived almost my entire life.

My husband and I lived in the Florida panhandle for a few months many years ago. One day at the laundromat there, I went to the vending machine in front of the store next door, which did not give me anything for my money. So I went inside the store and told the clerk there that "the pop machine took my money but didn't give me any pop." I was surprised when she said "you must be from Michigan." I asked her how she knew that, and she told me that around there, they called it "soda." Seems to me like we Michiganders can't be the only ones who call it pop.
