Things are not always what they seem. I say that almost derisively, because many in the world including those in our church have become so apathetic and complacent, that they will readily accept a mainstream narrative or point of view at face value regardless of its source, rather than critically evaluating its veracity.

Recently, I came across a Facebook post by a prominent church member that ridiculed the idea of a socialist agenda plunging our nation into communism as nothing but a mere conspiracy theory. This individual is not alone in that thought process. She and others like her also vehemently support what has come to be considered the most extreme and obtrusive measures ever employed for mitigating the spread of a disease.

Our Conference has become notorious for failing to take a stand on God-given rights, and whether faced with unreasonable and unconstitutional government mandates or simply the disparagement of long-standing Biblical beliefs and practices, our leadership would rather roll over and play dead.

There is no question that the current year has been a momentous year in terms of the political and social life of America. Unfortunately, many church members and leaders cannot tell the time. Tremendous changes have occurred that suggest America will never again be what it once was and all signs are pointing to a terrible future soon to occur.

While many think that Joe Biden's history of centrist politics will save the country, nothing could be further from the truth. The left has already started on Diane Feinstein after she made the mistake of talking politely to some on the other side of the aisle. They are now working to get her thrown out of leadership positions due to her "apparent dementia." Funny  thing, that is where Joe Biden is weak. And the same thing is likely to happen to him and the leftist from California will be in position to carry out all the left's dreams. What the average citizen doesn't get it has never worked before. In fact, it has left what is estimated to be 100,000,000 dead in the last century to various purges and mass killings. Already, some on the left have been demanding retribution for Trump supporters. The "time of trouble such as never was" has become that much more likely with a leftist win. It will be a trouble such as never was, but I suspicion the intensity of that trouble will be even worse.

While I have received a lot of hate in this forum for support of the President, I have never said he was not also a route to the handing over of the country to Roman control. I just think it would be with a lot less bloodshed. This article will discuss how both parties create a path to Rome.

This article was lengthly, but well worth the read and will probably be one of the more well written in tying together of all the parts of the conspiracy to destroy the country that America once was. I do think we are much closer to the end of the age than is usually stated.

Anyone that has a problem with who Trump has pardoned need only to look back at Clintons pardon record. Most of the ones pardoned I believe got caught up in the Russian collusion hoax. How silly. I listened to Nancy Pelosi in an interview with a reporter.  She admitted to it,in fact seemed rather proud of the fact.

I don't care who you work for.  Nancy Pelosi delaying the bill would be a rather strange fact to share with her followers.

Yup Trump pardoned those that had been crooks. Same as Obama did. Obama pardoned far more I believe and a quick check of the pardons  by both men will show very similar acts. Restraint?! Guess I learned that one through a long career of taking care of brain damaged patients. I was known as one who did not get too annoyed taking care of confused, screaming, tied down patients who often could not be medicated into sedation for their condition.

That has been a strange part of this whole thing going back for some time. Supposedly, Trump made a remark one time and that has set him up to be frequently trashed here on Adventistan with long strings of pejorative adjectives. However, the problems of the leaders of the Democratic party seem to be just OK. Doesn't matter if Biden eulogized Robert Byrd (ex-KKK) at his funeral, doesn't matter that Biden was accused of assaulting Tara Reade but we will attempt to destroy Justice Kavanaugh, doesn't matter if Democrats support abortion which in many big cities results in more black babies being terminated than born, or that Margaret Sanger (who founded Planned Parenthood) is a hero of the Democrats and spoke at Klan rallies and was known for wanting the elimination of "inferior races", and you could go on and on.

So, Trump is severely trashed and anyone who supports him including Dr Ben Carson (supposedly a family friend of marristinson's), any Adventist who supports Trump, and often myself.

I would be interested to know how a man like Biden became so extremely wealthy working a government job for 47 years. Far more interested in that than Trump's tax returns before he became a government employee.

I did not vote for Trump because I consider him a paragon of virtue. I accept that he is not. Nor can I read his mind as you seem to be able to do. I voted for him because I agreed with his policies. All of them? No, but certainly far more than Clinton or Biden. I have been surprised at the strength of feeling expressed in this thread, mainly concerning the voting for and the election of Biden or Trump. Possibly what is stated on this thread is a reflection of the strong feeling that still persists in the US after the elections.

I would like to make a few comments and observations from a religious perspective, and also from the perspective of living here in Australia by comparison to the US.

1.       The Election:

1a. I have never seen such excessive news coverage and other detail given by comparison to any previous election in the US or in any other country for that matter. There seems to have been unprecedented polarisation, not just the normal two groups supporting their normal preferred party and then those in between who change allegiance according to the individual candidate, his present policies and his past performance or record. Even here in Australia there was what I consider far too much news coverage of the US election.

1b. By comparison here in Australia, we have elections that run for about four weeks, and the party that obtains the majority of the seats in the House of Representatives forms the government, and the party decides the Prime Minister. As a result we have also had a change of Prime Minister a number of timers mid-term. The elections are soon forgotten and the politicians get down to running the country, supported by a very large public sector.

1c. From a religious perspective, both personal and with those of my fellowship, we do not partake in voting. In Australia voting is compulsory and we are fined if we do not vote. We are usually given exemption on the basis of our conscience, but we have to answer the electoral commission on each occasion stating the reason. My basis is that I believe that God rules in the kingdoms of men and God decides who will be given authority, sometimes good rulers and other times bad rulers according to His Purpose. God could well have used Trump to alter the situation in the Middle East, but possibly his work there may be complete, and there is now need for a different perspective and activity. I imagine that SDAs have a different perspective on both of these items, as it appears from this thread that SDAs vote, and feel strongly about THEIR choice, and the SDAs are not particularly looking for the fulfilment of Bible prophecy concerning the Middle East. They seem to be only looking for the national Sunday Law.

2.       The Virus:

I can only commiserate with you for the problems that you have in the US. We have had a few outbreaks in Australia, but it seems to be under reasonable control. Possibly we will not fare as well in winter. I could relate a few personal examples of my experiences of successful isolation, both very early, January-February and also March-April. These steps were taken on the basis of minimal information and warning, but taken very seriously at the time. I also live next door to one of the chief medical officers in the lung and chest department in our large regional hospital and could mention a few things. A simple comparison between the number of cases and percentages in the US and Australia is revealing, but we are all usually wiser after the event.

3.       Guns, Violence and Demonstrations:

We have much less guns here in Australia, part of a more recent deliberate policy. We cannot carry guns in public. We seem to have less violence and demonstrations. I hope what remains of the transition period will not be chaotic, but if feelings are still running high among sedate SDAs, I do not know what it is like in other segments.

Trevor: I truly respected your perspective of USA. I just want to say, I have mention the prophecy of the Middle East and role Trump played. Check it out! 

YAHSHUA said to render to Caesar the things for Caesar and most of those to ELOHIYM. Both Canaan and IsraEL was people who worship YAHWEH and accepted HIM as their RULER. But, they both fail! IsraEL ask for an earthly king and YAHWEH granted it. When YAHSHUA was on this earth, HE obey the Roman king and gave taxes. If we keep the Commandments of YAHWEH and put them first, then as long as the law of the land do not oppose the Commandment of YAHWEH, we should abide those laws as well. Voting is a right to choose in a Democratic society. Australia votes and the party that wins pick the Prime Minister. That is democracy and we here vote to choose our president. That is also democracy but unfortunately one tries to becomes a dictator and that is Trump!

Indeed, no one ascends to any political office without the permission of God in heaven. And those who do ascend are not always of the best character, but there is a greater reason for that permission to occur. Without a doubt, if it was God's intent for Trump to remain in office for another four years, it will happen and may actually still happen. All the steps of naming a new president have not occurred. And it also remains to be seen exactly why Trump was given the time that he was given as president. If this nations went off the rails and chose someone who would lead to country into socialism/communism,  then it may be permitted. Not exactly a clear prophecy of the Bible beyond "a time of trouble as there never was." So, you can only do what the Bible says and that is "watch and pray."

I am of the opinion that nothing happens in the open (visible to humans) that is not match by behind the scenes activity in the spirit world. The struggle going on beyond human eyes has no doubt reached epic proportions in the end time death struggle.

Australia is an interesting case as you do have some leaders who are beyond the extreme of some American "dictators" (Democrat governors). But the American situation is being used for population control as well as disease control. As one Demnocrat said, "Never let a crisis go to waste." So, sectors of the economy are being destroyed and more will be destroyed to accomplish the "green deal".

Carrying guns in public in the US varies by state. Some you can, others you cannot. Strangely enough, the ones with the most stringent gun controls have the highest murder rates! One common saying is, "When you take the guns away, only the outlaws will have guns."

A common misconception is that the 2nd amendment was there so people could continue to hunt for food. Wrong! It was for self protect in a militia sense. It has been told that during the Second World War, Japan considered invading the US. They are said to have discarded that idea when they pondered the fact that a large number (majority) of households in the US were armed and they would have to fight not only the military but much of the population.

Taking guns is usually one of the steps that occurs during the takeover of any country by totalitarian governments. Make no mistake,  that is exactly what is being attempted in this country.

I appreciate your thoughts on elections. For my part I consider that if we have espoused Jesus as Lord and that His Kingdom is to replace the present kingdoms of men (although SDAs do not agree with my view of Daniel 2:35,44 and Acts 3:19-21), then we are pilgrims as it were passing through our present country. If we were visiting another country for a vacation we would not be concerned as to what party was then in power unless it affected our pilgrimage in some major way. I find the circumstances concerning the peoples’ choice of Saul and the Divine selection and raising up of David as a pattern or example of man’s choice in present failing governments and God’s selection and purpose revealed in our Lord Jesus Christ. I reject the concept that the majority view and decisions are important and relevant as God’s will and purpose is what will prevail. The majority are often wrong and also the minority may be worse in their thinking and decisions.

I prefer a no guns environment, and even where I live in a semi-rural area I have only ever heard one or two gunshots in many years. I keep a healthy distance from a few venomous snakes and mow the grass of most of my tracks. In rural areas where guns are sometimes needed, guns are licensed and must be dismantled and safely locked away.

There are many factors that contribute to the outcome of a war, but I consider the same principle applies as with elections. God is in control and the events and outcome are the result of His purpose and plan for the individual nations. War is used by God to judge and punish the nations and some of the individuals that participate. On a personal level, my Dad was fostered at the age of 5 as a result of a war and lost contact completely with his parents by the age of 8. I have only recently traced my grandfather, and he died relatively young, possibly of his war wounds a few years after the war. He is buried in a RC cemetery. My Dad was eventually fostered onto a farm with an old couple, and his foster father after some years taught him the faith that I now espouse and also introduced him to the fellowship that I now share.
