Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 24, 2020 Moderators Posted December 24, 2020 Many are concerned over the current Federal deficit. Recently the CBO released a 91 page document that outlines that suggests a plan as to how this deficit may be reduced. You may access that document below: Options for Reducing the Deficit: 2021 to 2030 (cbo.gov) Quote Gregory
Stan Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I believe the Donald said he would have it paid off in a few years. how far down did he get it, or was he only wanting to get votes when he said that? phkrause 1 Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
CyberGuy Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 Several Years ago the house and senate passed the Line Item veto where the president could veto specific spending parts of the bill rather than the whole bill. One democrat and one republican appealed that and Scotus which was a liberal court struck that down. Without a line item veto which by the way MOST states have for their Governors we can never have a balanced budget as Congressmen and senators will pack any bill with pork spending that has NOTHING to do with the intent of the original intent of the bill. Right now they need to pass a line item veto again and try to get the conservative court to approve it if it is challenged again. Quote Riverside CA
CyberGuy Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 Trump could balance the budget if Congress would go along with his agenda. But with the Dems controlling the house and the Republicans controlling the senate there will NEVER be any cooperation between the parties. To much hostility between Democrats and Republicans now. Made worse by the impeachment attempt that had NO CHANCE of succeeding with the republicans controlling the senate. Democrats and republicans will work to try to send spending towards their districts rather than try to help the country as a whole. With each national emergency and more will follow as we approach the end of time and Christs return. We have already passed the point where we can barely pay the interest much less the debt. One solution which may happen which I and everyone who has a retirement account will hate will be to confiscate all 401K and 403B retirement accounts which amount to more than the debt is and put that into the social security account of the people. Of course this will pay the debt but unless deficit spending is brought under control this will only be a temporary solution. phkrause 1 Quote Riverside CA
