My background in math is limited. But, today, my attention has been directed to two examples in this field. The Nash Equilibrium was set forth by John Nash who received a Nobel Prize in 1994, and was the subject of the 2001 movie, A Beautiful Mind. My listed link is an easy explanation of this. It was proposed by Dietrich Braess in 1968. My understanding of it is limited.
