Some questions for general discussion to deal with my curiosity.

If the flood was global instead of local

a) What did the carnivores eat for the duration?

Did animals found in the arctic, australasia (i.e. those not native to the Middle east) evolve after the flood?

c) If the seas/waters covered the earth did freshwater animals die?

d) Did any sea animals survive the flood?

e) where did the nephilim come from after the flood?

David, I can't give you answers to your questions. But:

As for "d," many c creationists would say that sea animals survived the flood, and they would likely say the same for fresh-water animals.

As for "b," many creationists would say that they did evolve evolve, but might say that they evolved before the flood.

As for the nephilim (See Gen. 6:4 and Num. 13:33) little is known about them. But, it is thought that they were human giants, and possibly very violent.

I will respond with possabilities that have been written about. All is speculation.

Some creationists believe that God caused many if not all the animals to hybanate in the ark during the flood. Others argue that the ark was big enough for the animals and food to be brought on board. Dried meat would have been stored for the carnivors.

Some creations believe that the contenants were still all connected after the flood. One reason for this belief is that much water was inland and frozen (many creationists believe the ice age occured during and after the flood) and the oceans were therefore not as high as they are now. Also that the flood began the process of platectonics in motion and the contenants were closer together at the time.

Some creationists do, indeed, believe in a second creation after the flood.

From what I understand, before the flood all water was fresh water. The oceans became salty from all the minerals carried into them from rivers. The sea life would have had to evolve to adapt to the salt water.

Adventists typically understand the sons of God to refer to believers and the daughters of men to refer to nonbelievers.

Nephilim is translated by Strong's to mean "a bully or tyrant". That fits with the story so I don't read much more into it than that.
