Certainly not an exorbitant or exotic request, nor one of dire emergency next to those who are ailing and in deep need, but I'm due for an 18-hour road trip next week to visit my daughter out of state on her birthday and take her some furniture and other things of hers. I'll be driving a terribly unfamiliarly LARGE vehicle (a 12' rental truck) and driving it alone, and flying home the following Sunday, and I'm a little nervous. My partner is a LOT nervous.

Please pray for the Lord's watchcare over me as I travel to keep me safe (and others around/near me on the road & in the air as well). Thanks!

Oh wow. For sure I will be praying for the hedge of protection. Do you know what day you're leaving?

Leaving the 19th, early, going to do most of the drive that day and the rest on the 20th.

Will remember to pray for you Nico (we leave on vacation that same day ) and you have my admiration for planning to drive such a vehicle on unknown roads.

Y'know, until I posted here asking for prayer the full impact of it had not made itself known. In other words I wasn't really sweating it until I posted this here and then it hit me, ohmygawdz, I'm going to be driving this HUGE THING I have NO experience maneuvering ... at HIGHWAY SPEEDS ... for EIGHTEEN HOURS ...

Hi Nico...welcome back! We've missed you!

As for the prayer request, you'll do fine! If you don't feel comfortable driving 65/70 or higher, then...don't! Just remember to stay in the slow lane and if you think you need to, use your flashers to warn others that you are a slower vehicle. Some folks frown on using them for non-emergencies but to me, it catches the eye of the other drivers and lets them know that something ahead needs to be avoided.

Again, glad to "see" you again! I'll keep you in my prayers!

Nico,

I will definitely remember you as you travel and pray for your safety!! You will do fine I have no doubt. But, I KNOW that I would be nervous about it, too.

Good to see you posting again!!

Nico--Will be praying for you. As they all said, just take it slow and easy and rest when you need to.

Nico--

I know how it is to drive long trips. Try to keep it during daylight hours, and stop often. Gas, meals, bathroom, any excuse is good.

The longest trip I've ever made was from Edmonton to Norfolk in a 14' rental truck. The part from Edmonton to Lacombe was done on Friday, and then left for Va. on Sunday morn. Drove about 10 hours a day for 5 days. Enjoyed the scenery and the quiet, so much that I forgot to call my husband one night!!

You'll do well; you have the best Friend ever to be with you.

Nico, I'll be praying for you the whole trip.

The secret I learned when driving a big grain truck one summer while working my father-in-law's farm, is to use your mirrors! It's difficult to judge your width, so practice driving while watching your right-hand mirror, and staying just inside the white line the whole time. [The white solid line signifies the right-hand edge of the highway.]

Another thing you have to learn, is how to gauge your excess height! Make sure they tell you your truck's actual height, so you can avoid any low overpasses.

I wouldn't drive the speed limit. There's no rule that says you must.

And if you take an audio book, or something interesting, along with you, you can just tool along at moderate speed -- letting the whole world pass you, but enjoying the comfortable ride -- up above everybody else!

I predict you're already much more adept at this driving business than you realize.

Have fun!

I'll be praying for you too...it's tough driving long distances, especially when you're tired, and in an unfamiliar vehicle.
