Waco and Partisanship

Ok, now... how many of those that are politically minded remember the Waco disaster? How many blamed President Clinton for it? Now, if it would have been President G.W. Bush, how many would have blamed him for it?

I never did blame President Clinton even though I listened to some of Rush Limbaugh's rants about it. I always firgured it was a miscalculation by the FBI. Some of the right-wing conspiriacy theorists actually believe the FBI started the fire!

Isn't it interesting how our preception of events is impacted by our polictical preferences?

I went to school in Waco for a year, Texas State Technical Institute. My wife and I were both horrified that so many lives were wasted.

Since then we watched a video claiming/showing that the FBI shot their own men, and that tanks with flamethrowers torched the place.

We didn't know whether to believe the video or not.

I actually went looking for the compound after receiving some literature during a SDA Campmeeting. I think they called themselves the Branch. That was before Koresh.
