Amelia Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Plane crashes into three homes in Hillsboro 05:13 PM PDT on Sunday, July 16, 2006 By KRISTINA BRENNEMAN, kgw.com Staff HILLSBORO, Ore. -- A British fighter plane participating in the Hillsboro Air Show crashed into three homes near Hillsboro airport, igniting a massive fire that forced emergency officials to evacuate the area. Two of the homes are on fire, and the Hillsboro Fire Department has issued three alarms in response to the crash, said Connie King, a spokeswoman for Hillsboro Fire Department. "We did evacuate the area and at this point they're still battling those fires," she said, urging people to "stay out of the area." It’s uncertain if there are any injuries. Witness Josh Boer said a house "literally exploded" when the plane hit and sent out a fire bomb that lit two other homes on fire. He believed the plane was a bomber. Julia Brown, who was watching the Air Show, said she lost sight of the plane and then suddenly saw a plume of black smoke. Early reports said the plane lost power and within 20 seconds crashed near Northeast 58th Avenue. Black smoke from the fire can be seen and smelled for miles. The type of plane has not been confirmed, but initial reports said it was a privately owned British Hawker Hunter plane, which is a single-seat fighter plane. The Air Show draws 65,000 people a year. A 10-block radius around the area has been closed. Amelia Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 God is totally AWESOME! It turned out to be 4 houses hit. The one house that was oblitereated? They found out that the woman living there lived alone and was in Portland at the time. So far the only death is the pilot of the plane who was from california. No one on the ground was injured. Isn't that just amazing? Quote
"Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you." Eph 4:29

Fairview Or
