Portland Police at Eastport Plaza after an officer-involved shooting. Police responded to initial reports of a suicidal man at the Eastport Plaza shopping center along Southeast 82nd Ave. A short time later, there was an exchange of gunfire, according to Police spokesman Sgt. Brian Schmautz. Schmautz says one officer fired several rounds at the suspect, and the suspect also fired his weapon, although it's not clear whether the suspect was firing at himself or officers. After the shooting, officers called in the Special Emergency Reaction Team, because they weren't sure the suspect was dead. Officers say the man had a prior relationship with someone at the recruiting center. Eastport Plaza was closed to shoppers after the shooting.
