cricket Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Well, I'm not one of the 20! But, of the 300,000--sadly so! Wednesday evening around 7:00 p.m., our city was hit with what seemed like hurricane winds. My kids and I were at our VBS playing outdoor games when the storm hit. Our church is without power and VBS was cancelled. Still haven't heard if we're going to have worship services at church tomorrow. Today it was cool enough to open the house and clean out the refrigerator. I have an unopened bottle of salad dressing and a jar of green olives left. All else has spoiled. We've had to boil our water. (HA! Without electricity, who can boil??) Traffic is horrible; the only restaurants that are open are 20 minutes away. And they are all packed! Told ya' St. Louis summers can't be beat!! Blessings to you all, hopefully I can get back here by next Wednesday. Quote

puddles Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Cricket, I am glad you and your family seem to be doing as well as can be expected. <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/untitled.bmp" alt="" /> Please pray for my 79 year old aunt. She is having to sleep in her basement because it is cool and like so many others, has lost everything in her fridge. She told my mom tonight that she had to resort to eating a can of sardines for supper! <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/icon_smile_sick.gif" alt="" /> She did say that she and one of her neighbors (also elderly) was able to go to a senior center 5 miles away and get something for lunch. She said that even her daughter who lives down in Cedar Hills was also without electricity! cricket Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Puddles, As I recall, your aunt lives only a few miles from me. North county was hit pretty hard, downtown St. Louis was just as bad--if not worse. It's a quarter 'til 6 Saturday night. We're still out of power and looks like we'll be spending another night in the basement too! My husband uses a c-pap machine at night, we've been running it off of power from the car. Whoever said it might be a little like we are to expect in the latter days--I think you're right on target.
