Dr. Shane Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I was working in as a missionary in El Salvador and met my wife at a church social. However she wasn't attending the social, she was washing her clothes. She caught my eye and I became more interested in her than the social. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... cricket Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I met my future husband at an all-night Halloween skating party! I was 15; he was 16. And, no, it was not love at first sight. It took us three more years to get to that point. Quote

there buster Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 She walked into the cafeteria at the now (mercifully) defunct Oak Park Academy boarding school in Iowa, and sat down at my table. That was my (and her) freshman year. We were both 14 years old, just about this time of year, 42 years ago. I still remember how she looked. It was all over for me, no other girls existed. Our 38th anniversary is this December 22nd. I'm just as bedazzled today as I was in 1964. Quote “the slovenliness of our language makes it easier to have foolish thoughts.” George Orwell

Stan was there representing the Conference Communications department, as well as local and Vancouver media. Rikki and I were the only women who took part, out of about 2 dozen participants. Zip! Out came the clippers and razors! And soon we were all bald Rusty was also shaved. He took part in this because he is a cancer survivor himself, and had recently lost a daughter to the disease. He was the one who Trac-II'd my head. Actually we had met briefly before, but he always quotes this story when asked Seeing my daughter on the news on TV was her estranged grandmother, who subsequently contacted her. Jerry D Thomas Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 My wife and I went to academy together, but we never dated there, except on double dates with other people. Once we got to college though, we got together and got serious quickly. We started dating in October, got engaged in November, got married in March. We were both 19. Three kids and 27 years later, I still think she's gorgeous and much too young to be a grandmother next February. Quote
Planey Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 At the end of one school year I was at a loose end, no girlfriend, vacation approaching. On the Sabbath night of Avondale College graduation I was attending the Messiah recital at the College auditorium and one of the local girls had some sort of disagreement with the boy she was sitting with and got up and left. She met me in the foyer and we went outside to talk. I had a bit of an interest in this girl's sister and in the process of our chat (just talking, nothing else...) I arranged to sit with her sister at the Grad concert the next night. Things progressed from there and so I had a girlfriend for the vacation This year we celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary. A long vacation. Graeme Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
puddles Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Met my husband at church. After years of having well meaning folks introduce me to "Mr. Right", I actually had the good sense to stumble across the real deal all by myself...lol <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/wub.gif" alt="" /> He said he became interested in me one Sabbath when I was sharing a prayer request but didn't figure I'd want anything to do with him. A few months later we both participated in a "Relay for Life" walk for breast cancer and I happened to look over at him and was struck with that "still small voice" that said in no uncertain terms "you are going to marry that man" and the rest as they say is history. There are a few years difference in our ages but it bothered everyone but us and we were what mattered, so we took the plunge during an ice storm in 2003 and have become closer with each passing day. He truly completes me and I couldn't imagine being married to anyone else. []http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smilies/romantic/couple.gif[/] Quote
Dottie Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 One Christmas vacation a friend called me and invited me to a New Year's party at her parents' house. It was a couples party. Eveeryone there was married except myself and my husband-to-be.Her parents were away for the weekend. I was separated at the time, and he had been recently divorced. The party was three hours from my parents', where I was staying. I left my little boys with them and drove through four hours of fog. We sort of hit it off. Later we talked on the phone a lot, as where I lived was four hours from his house. We would alternate weekends visiting, him staying in a motel in town, and I staying at his house with him, his girls, and another family who needed a place to live while their house was being finished. (Had to keep it kosher) We married 18 months after we met on New Year's Eve, 1972. Quote
