Neil D Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 [:"blue"] +Am I missing something here? These are misdomeanor charges of providing public jobs to people who supported him and we are going to NOT going to trial????? Are we waisting the courts time on misdomeanor charges??? Are these high profile, really good paying jobs where you make some ungodly amount of money or have some really high influence on public policy???? Isn't this foder for the political opposition???? Isn't the court implying that political corruption is the order of the day????? [/] Judge Could Dismiss Charges Against Fletcher Today Aug 11, 2006 09:15 AM PDT The judge overseeing the case against Governor Fletcher could decide today if the charges against him should be dropped. Fletcher faces three misdemeanor counts that his administration broke state law by giving protected jobs to political supporters. Special Judge, David Melcher, could dismiss the charges at a hearing this morning in Frankfort. Fletcher pleaded not guilty to the charges earlier this year. Prosecutors urge Melcher to allow the case to go to trial. A November eighth trial date had already been set. If the case goes to trial, it could severely damage Flecther's hopes at re-election. Former Governor Julian Carroll says the Governor would not benefit from a trial reguardless of the outcome because of the negative publicity surrouding the issue. Dr. Shane Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Remember Governor James McGreevey gave his gay lover a job that he wasn't even qualified for. I think it is a lot more common than we want to believe. But that is what we have a justice system for. It isn't a perfect system but it is one of the better ones in the world.
