One of the best sermons I ever heard, was regarding a 'sin' that as I found out later, was his.

Sociologist often call these people 'crusaders', or they used to..

The question comes, how sinless does someone have to be to have their message respected?

I have more respect for someone who is honest and open, than for someone who toots a loud horn then runs over somebody. <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

I agree with Pam. Also, I have more respect for a messenger whose message is based on personal experience.

I once heard a young man fresh out of college speak about raising children. To this day, I can't remember what the rest of his sermon was about. I only remember thinking that he had no idea what he was talking about as he hadn't "been there, done that."

My first response is- Do I really need this information?

Are people going to take the information and run with it and use it to destroy the person through gossip and condemnation? Too many people focus in on the sin for my comfort. It makes me wonder if that is what they do with me or would do, if they were in possession of some of my secrets.

Having said that, I also can put credence on someone's personal account of their struggle

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
