Administrators Gail Posted August 18, 2006 Administrators Posted August 18, 2006 Ah, you betcha!!! Right on! Go, Jerry! One million books, eh? I guess that would make you a millionaire by now, wouldn't it? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Jerry D Thomas Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Stan, I am amazed by that number! It's hard for me to imagine that words I've written have spread that far. I was recently at the National Teacher Convention and heard many stories from teachers about the impact my books have had on their students--I'm humbled to think that God is touching kids through my books. We all do what we can. I can't sing. I'm not an evangelist or missionary. There are many things that others do that I cannot. All I can do is use the talent God has given me. Gail, I wish those sales translated into that kind of money! Alas, instead of $24.95 hard covers, most of my books have been paperbacks under $6. My family has been blessed by the money my books have earned, but I'll still be making payments on PLUS (Parent loans for undergraduate students) loans for years. I do want to thank you all for your kind words. It's a real source of encouragement as I work on my next project. By the way, please visit my website: www.jerrydthomas.com. It's got a "grown-up mode" and a "kids mode". You (or a kid you know) can leave a comment on any of my books or ask questions. Let me know what you think. Quote
cricket Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Can't resist... At $6 a book, that would make our brother Jerry the Six-Million Dollar Man! Quote

Stan Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 Have had in my hands for a week or so, WHAT WE BELIEVE a brand new book. The fundamental beliefs of the Adventist Church for kids. A great book for your children or grandchildren... Well done Mr Thomas ON another note... not only has all those books been a blessing to 100's of thousands of people, but they have also provided employment for 100's of people, Right from the person who planted the tree to be cut for paper, to the person who said "Thank you for shopping at our store" Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
Administrators Gail Posted August 22, 2006 Administrators Posted August 22, 2006 What We Believe- Ours is coming in the mail Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Jerry D Thomas Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I'll be interested in hearing what you think of What We Beleive when you see it. Some have suggested that these shortened, simplified versions of the 28 fundamental beliefs can't possibly convey their meaning accuractely. But the reaction of several adults who've seen it was: "Hey, maybe I can understand these." Quote

Stan Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 I know many would like to see GC done in the same format as the Messiah... HOWEVER I would like to see Acts of the Apostles done, reading that would/could revolutionize the Church Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
Jerry D Thomas Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 At this point, it looks like the only way I'll ever do Acts of the Apostles or any of the others is to write them independently of the White Estate, without their input or "blessing." People tell me how much Messiah has blessed them and ask when the next book is coming everywhere I go. I'm starting to feel like maybe I should be working on the other books even if the White Estate isn't ready. I'd rather write the books with the input of the White Estate, but if that isn't going to happen, should I go ahead? Or would it not be as meaningful without their "stamp of approval?" How about some input? What does everyone think? Quote
Stan Posted August 26, 2006 Author Posted August 26, 2006 HMMMM I can see my friend Jim kicking me in my shins for this... BUT am thinking,... move forward... enhance the blessing to others.... Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 26, 2006 Members Posted August 26, 2006 I think you should go ahead. (rubberstamping kinda gives me hives anyway..) Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
