Barbara Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 How did they get a dead horse to publish it? LOL I guess the editor or proof read didn't do their job well. Quote .....Love others as well as you love yourself. Matt 22:39 (The Message Bible)
cricket Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 Ever wonder why the horse was named Secretariat? sec·re·tar·i·at n. The department administered by a governmental secretary, especially for an international organization. The office occupied by such a department. The office or position of a governmental secretary.
Quote:
On March 30, just 10 minutes past midnight, Somethingroyal foaled a bright red chestnut colt with three white socks and a star with a narrow blaze. Almost immediately, the colt was thought to be too pretty, a title that would haunt him early in his racing career and then earn him fame for his beauty as a Triple Crown winner. By the time the colt was a yearling, he still was without a name. Meadow's secretary, Elizabeth Ham, had submitted 10 names to the Jockey Club, and all 10 were denied for one reason or another. Approval finally came with the 11th submission, a name Ham herself picked from a previous career association, Secretariat. Wikipedia

Quote

aldona Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Ever since I was a kid I have always found reading the SDA Church Manual depressing...I have no idea why, and it doesn't matter which chapter I happen to be reading, but the longer I read, the thicker and blacker the cloud that seems to hang over my head becomes. I have tried hard to work out why this is so. I still have no idea, but the general feeling that develops is "it's all too hard...I can't do this...there is no joy in this religion..." aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? aldona Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Yes...I'm starting to realise...conversion to another denomination is what it will take. When I read the manual of "Quaker Faith and Practice" it is quite different. Words cannot describe the feeling of joy and peace and complete love for and by God. I have never experienced that in any Adventist setting. And I say that as a lifelong, 4th generation Adventist. aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? Dr. Shane Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I did Bible studies with an Assemblies of God girl and that is how she described reading the "What Seventh-day Adventists Believe..." book. The church manual can be a little dry and rigid but I think it provides good direction for us. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

Over the years I have studied, and attended, most denominations. I have experienced peace, love for God and man in several. However, I do believe that we are the right church. The commandment keeping people. Sometimes I think that perhaps my feelings which I felt were emotional experiences. Emotions can be deceptive. Sometimes I attend church and leave feeling "feed" sometimes it is not the case. Music, reading and meditation often are the things that leave me filled with peace, complete love for and by God. We all have to walk our own path. Blessings, Naomi Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
