It would be a little bit like China in many ways with Deities around every corner receiving thanks for rain, water, rivers, health, fertility and so on. For some reason we have always worshiped or given thanks to beings we cant see or are no longer here. And now we go down the domains of ancient aliens. 

Spirituality is as old as the Hills God made anyway. Maybe we just never really had a focus for it until Jesus came.
