Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup.

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

Not having any of the facts, I couldn't presume to pass judgment one way or another.

your guess is as good as mine.

I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.

I think it is getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much press coverage.

Last night a teenage girl was raped, stapped 17 times and left for dead here locally. She managed to crawl to a local neighbor's house. They called 911 and she is in critical condition. They caught two of the guys that did it. Has that gotten any national coverage?

You're right. The story of this poor 14 year old needs to be told. It's waaaaaaaaaay more important that we be aware of these things--and attempt to put an end to violence--than to sit around bickering about whether or not it is okay for us to wear necklaces, earrings, ties, shoes, etc. In fact, if we spend more time helping others, we might find that the answers (to whether or not to wear jewelry and the like) will come naturally.

His will will be written in our hearts and minds when we become like Him.

Chrys,

I think you have just summed up being like Jesus to a tee. We do tend to bicker like Pharisees.

Well, I am not sure I can say that the Sixth Commandment is more important than the First Commandment but both certainly are important.

If this girl dies, these boys are likely to get the lethal injection here in Texas. Too bad they can't get it if she lives. Something like that makes one wish we still hanged people in the public square.

So, I guess you won't be visiting them in prison, in hopes of sharing Jesus' love with them.

I would do that if given the opportunity. I have done prison ministry in the past. But I learned my lesson. One inmate asked me to read his file. He wanted to be assured Christ could forgive him. Reading the file was a mistake. This was in a juvenile prison. The kid stabbed another kid several times because he had loaned a CD to the other kid and then the other kid wouldn't give it back. His file contained a detailed description of the attack and it was very ugly. That is more information than I need to know when I am trying to minister to someone.

Yep. Sinners are ugly people. Maybe God can help you to overcome your "information overload".

After that happened, others in prison ministries told me that is a "no-no". We should never ask or discuss a prisoner's crime with them because we are only human and it will impact our effectivness as lay ministers.

I have no issue ministering to prisoners, even those on death row. Just because I favor giving a criminal his civil punishment doesn't mean I think he should be denied the opportunity to repent and gain the kingdom of heaven.

One of the guys laughed yesterday when the judge placed a $2 million bail on him. He deserted the Marines and had fled to Mexico.

I suspect he knew something about/had something to do with her death, but that there's more to the sad, sordid and depressing little saga. I think Shane's point is well made, though: white, blonde and pretty (Natalee Holloway, etc, etc) and there'll be a huge national media frenzy, anyone else and nobody will even know and be given the opportunity to care. Jon-Benet's story was tragic in all sorts of ways, but she's been dead now for longer than she was alive - it's time to let her rest in peace.

Both (all tragic stories) should be told. No argument there. There are countless other stories of "white, blond and pretty" tragedies that go untold as well.

I don't how this is being covered downunder but here it is almost like the OJ trial all over again. I can't get away from it. It is on the radio at every hour's update, talk radio and TV news channels.

Karr cleared in JonBenet Ramsey case

Prosecutors abruptly dropped their case against John Mark Karr in the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey on Monday, saying DNA tests failed to put him at the crime scene despite his repeated insistence he killed the 6-year-old beauty queen.

I have now voted in the poll.

Many if not most criminals will say I didn't do it, evidence not withstanding. What kind of a twisted mind would own up to a crime they did not commit?
