That's precisely my point, Gina. Whether one takes him for a Christ OR for a prophesied "false prophet sign of the end," in either case one grants the little slimeball precisely what he seeks: the ego-stroke of being considered important in the grand scheme of things.

Why feed this in him? He is nothing. Dismiss and ignore the man. I guarantee when the real end is upon us his name will have long been forgotten, dust lost in dust.

A genuine prophecy-fulfilling false prophet will not be so easily recognized as one. Trust me. <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> People have been claiming some sort of special pipeline to the divine will since the dawn of time, and the ones who are truly dangerous are not the obvious megalomaniacs but those feigning piety and, like the Pharisees of yore, binding needless burdens grievous to be borne upon the shoulders of the seekers of grace, traversing land and sea to make one convert and then, when they have got him, making him twice the child of hell and misery and bad religion that they are themselves.

I know, for this I have tasted and seen myself, and need not any other to teach it unto me secondhand. So may we each find our way free of deceit.
