Neil D Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 [:"green"] if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. [/] Humble themselves from what? What does it mean to "seek my face"? And as adventist christians, what wicked ways do we have? Dr. Shane Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 For me, humblying myself is getting rid of SELF. At least trying to. It means putting others first. A good start is doing this with my family: my wife and children. Beyond that I think it means to look for God's will and submit to it. In today's world that is going to mean two basic things... (and they are both tough) 1. OUR MONEY: What is God's will for our money? 2. OUR TIME: What is God's will for our time? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... [:"red"] "And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God; Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding. At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision." olger Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Good question, and a few good answers already. Pride is something that each of us struggle with. It is the basis of our carnal nature. When we acknowledge our pride and repent of it, then it is that God can do for us what He has been waiting to do. Our people (including myself) is full of pride and intellectual truth that hasn't reached the heart. What is the solution? This verse. Yesterday, I confessed to my wife that I had pride in my life and repented to the Lord. olger Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
