I don't like water that much, so I guess I'll just stay around here.

I think I prefer the here and now ... so much is changing, so rapidly, that it keeps every day interesting.

I think this time is the best cause I am from here and enjoy creature comforts.

To be decadent in the roman times sounds appealing.

but not if you arent decadent.

I would have to live in the Rome era of course.

But to wonder around without a home. No running water or fridgerated foods. No crisp clean water showering down on you before you have to go to work in the fields!

Ugh!

And there were some in that era who went about preaching and not knowing where your next meal is comming from.

O my!

Ahhhh but to live in Rome!

Where Servants are at your beck and call.

To get a massage if u wish!

To eat whatever like and throw up if need be.

To have entertainment at the clap of a hand.

To go to places of comfort.

To travel without heating up or cooling down.

To go fast in your chariot!!!!

to have accesss to your friends and family in a mere 3 seconds no matter where u stand(unless your network Drops Your CALL!!!!!)

To order harpests or flute players or a clown when the mood fancies.

To be decadent!

To live the life in the Bible Age.

So if I had to live in another time and location.

I would be decadent in ROME.

I really regret having been born before personal computers and the internet. I wonder if my life would have turned out differently, being able to access so much more information so quickly. I was 40 y/o when I first got some hands-on experience using a small Mac.

I have notebooks of stuff I've written, plus stacks of messy, typewritten documents. I've entered most of this material into the computer, now, and saved it on CD's.

Of course, if we lose electricity on a long-term basis, our computer technology will be worthless without a source of electrical power.

If I had a choice, though, I would like to have lived in Israel when Jesus walked there, and, second, when the events of Rev unfold and Jesus returns to rescue his own. Looking backward is so much clearer than looking forward. What if I didn't believe Jesus was the Messiah back then?

I think I would still take the risk and be born around the time he was, especially if I knew our paths would cross. It would have been a much harder life, though. No candy bars or Dr. Pepper or pizza or sub-sandwiches, just the same old beans and rice everyday for a lifetime.

For much of the world's history, the common man was poor. There was virtually no middle class. The typical man worked 10 to 12 hours a day, six days each week. They had little time to spend with thier families. There was no birth control so women spent much of their child-bearing years pregnant and many of their children died before age two due to illness. There were no antibiotics so the only defense against infection was a strong immune system. Many died of simple infections like strep throat. There were a lot more widows and orphans than today.

Even the rich and wealthy did not have the luxeries many of the poor enjoy today. No carpetted floors, spring-coil mattress, central heating with themostatic control, vaccum cleaners, microwaves, indoor running water, radio, recorded music, television, telephone, automobiles, air conditioning, refrigerators, ice cream or fresh fruits and vegetables all year long.

My favourite era is the Middle Ages/Renaissance. I find the art and music from both periods interesting

If we assume the traditional SDA eschatology holds true, I would love to be on the earth during the millenium, to keep Lucifer company, to bring him relief and succor, and to be a comfort to him in his despair while he gradually comes to the horrible realisation of his true condition.

If we set aside all notions of the SDA time-based eschatology, I would really like to come back some 1500 or 2000 years in the future, and see how humanity as a species has grown and evolved, what kinds of new cultures, art forms, and technologies it has developed, and whether the species has gotten a clue yet. <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

We have actually consumed EVERYTHING.

Or feeble minded Dictators or Presidents blowing us up directly or indirectly.

but Bush cant be re elected.

For me it's kind of difficult to tell if ever there was an age of more enlightenment or of less struggle and violence

I can see pros and cons of all periods. I suppose that only pre-Fall Eden and Heaven will be idyllic
