LifeHiscost Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 asking to be recognized as our Father, is recognized by the majority of Christians as being unwilling (or even unable) to keep His children from unjust treatment. Even on this earth, among the fallen race, there are fathers who would give their lives before they would allow their children to suffer unjustly. Are we to assume, as some would have us, that the God of heaven behaves thus, irregardless of the wishes of His chosen. It sounds like the more a person is tortured, the more *qualified* he will be for salvation. Only a short step to self-flagellation. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. The first conclusion I make is that we each, as deliberately having chosen sinful conduct, are worthy of the sentence of death, being responsible for the death of the King of the universe, our Creator. Secondly, in reference to the text above, the first sentence contains the words (refused to be released) indicating a personal choice they were willing to suffer whatever abuse they were placed under as subjects of a loving God, as long as they could be assured of His continueing care of them. Their acquiesence to that abuse for the sake of bringing honor to the Lord of glory, made it just for Him to allow whatever He knew would bring the highest possible reward for eternity, for the willing suppliants. While it doesn't specifically say all the others gave willing acceptance, especially since these are individuals identified as faithful servants of the sovereign eternal Father (Who is Love and they know He is Sovereign), they rest in His care and concern for their ultimate destiny, knowing by faith He will never act out of character. Would that we all, as His servants, were of such faith. Parade Orange Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 [looking around the large room ] Quote All progress in the Spiritual Life is knowing and Loving GOD"there is non upon earth that I desire besides YOU" PS 73:25That perspective changes EVERYTHING-suffering and adversity are the means that makes us hungry for GOD. Disapointments will wean us away wordly occupations. Even sin(when repented of) becomes a mechanism to push us closer to HIM as we experience His Love and Forgiveness.
