Hybrid Water Heater

My wife and I are converting to energy efficient items,  Friday a hybrid electric water heater was installed in our home.  Today the city inspector came to approve the  installation.  He had never heard of such and the installation was new to him.  

In the 5 days that we have had it, we are very satisfied with its production of hot water, when we need it and at the temperature that we need it.  A hybrid water heater is the most efficient water hear that you can purchase.  It is more efficient than a tankless water heater.  If you want to look into one the following information will inform:

*  Rheem is a major manufacture of hybrid water heaters.

*  You can purchase either a hybrid electric or a hybrid gas water heater.  We purchased a hybrid electric.

*  You can purchase either a `120 volt or a 240 volt model.  We went for 240 volts.

*  A heat pump is the primary method of heating the water.

*  In the event of failure of the heat pump,  standard electric elements heat the water, in the electric model.

* Operation of the Hybrid water heater may be controlled by an app on your phone.

NOTE:  We have installed solar electricity with back-up batteries for times when the sun is not generating electricity.  So, electricity consumption of our water heater does not directly cost us for electricity.
