Rikki was just there...

Not been there - have no reason yet to go there from England , but the news footage was enough...the Education Secretary of the UK at the time (he's not that anymore) is blind, and he tried to explain how he perceived the situation without any visual angle...

Absolutely shocking and rightly the worst and most dramatic destruction of property and human life since TV became normal.

Five years is also enough for reasonable & credible if even more shocking alternative causes and explanations to be discovered & published : or don't you ponder such things here?

I first was alerted to what was happening on 9-11 here (I think it was here, or else the other Adventist forum that now is defunct). Someone had just posted that a second plane had hit the World Trade Center. Then I turned on the TV.

I have not been to the site. I am also reluctant to watch the new spate of movies coming out. I feel that something this tragic and enraging I could easily obsess over, and I don't want to wallow in it.

My wife and I went up to the tourist floor in one of the towers in 1999. We're glad now that we had our camcorder and recorded it. She hs four sisters that live there in New York. We haven't been back again but hope to go again in the new couple of years.

I haven't been to New York since 2001, but went to Washington, D.C. in March of 2002 and security didn't seem as tight as I thought it would be.

My friend had a small pair of fold up scissors in her carryon bag and ended up losing them and she tested security in D.C. even more by having a knife in her purse! She said it was just in case we bought something to eat that needed to be cut! She managed to get it into one of the museums, but not the Museum of Natural History! They told her she couldn't bring it in! She took it outside and and hid it somewhere and then retrieved it when we left!

When I fly, I get checked by at least 4 methods! They roll me through the metal detector in the wheelchair, then I get the metal detector wand passed over me, and a pat down! And the wheelchair is checked! They also remove my shoe and put it through the scanner.

For some strange reason I seem to be in the middle many crisis...I was scheduled to be there the morning of the 12th. My trip was rescheduled until the first day the airport was open ... What an experience!

I personally knew 3 people who were killed and others whose lives were destroyed. The planned attack on innocent people, anywhere in the world, is always sad.

Also, That was the first time I went on-line for an SDA Forum and read something which was a real put-down to the US and our deserving such ...

I didn't try again to locate SDA's on-line for sometime!

I heard about it here, on C/A, then went to the TV

Been to visit a few times since. The first time I couldn't believe all the streets that were blocked off everywhere. It was pretty sad to drive into the city and not see those 2 buildings sticking out above everything else. All those years to build and only a few hours to come down. I just praise the Lord that they didn't topple over otherwise it would have been much worse. New York is still my favorite city to visit.

I was vacationing in florida when I heard the news. And we were delayed 2 days on our return home.
