Nicodema Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 ... so THERE. Suck it up!!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/5346930.stm Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
darlene Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I think there are many people who often hear God's voice. He speaks in that still small voice and that is very welcome. Quote
Nicodema Posted September 21, 2006 Author Posted September 21, 2006 I'd like to get a specific definition of what they mean by "hearing voices" anyway. Are they talking about a full blown audible in-the-ear voice when there's no person around talking? Or are they talking about voices "in the head" ... a chatter of thoughts or a "thought voice" that stands out and seems different from the content of one's own mind ... Neil D Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Quote: People also hear voices as if they are thoughts entering the mind from somewhere outside themselves. They will have no idea what the voice might say. It may even engage in conversation. Ah....a reason why I loose the arguements in my head.... D. Allan Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I used to have dreams that I was reading a book.... The gibberih went on and on. Sometimes it made sense. Once I woke up in the middle of the night with a spiritual sensation and a Bible verse running through my mind - it was an answer to prayer. Sometime when meditating I start to hear isolated phrases, like "walk with us." No visions yet, though! Really, I'm not weird! Quote dAb O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
Nicodema Posted September 21, 2006 Author Posted September 21, 2006 Hahahaha, yes you are. WEIRD. Like Us. You are one of US!!!!! Weird is beautiful. Normal is boring, full of itself for no reason, and tedious. Be weird! :D Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
Moderators Gerr Posted September 21, 2006 Moderators Posted September 21, 2006 And seeing things not there is normal too? Gerry Quote
Nicodema Posted September 21, 2006 Author Posted September 21, 2006 I don't see things that aren't there. If I see something, it's there. Of that you may be certain. Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
bevin Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Quote: And seeing things not there is normal too? Yes - people do this all the time (a) They dream ( They dream that they are awake © The human visual system is set to recognize threats - such as faces - even in random shapes It is when I don't see things that are there that I really get scared! /Bevin Quote
bevin Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Quote: Ah....a reason why I loose the arguements in my head.... there are three kinds of people Those who talk to themselves Those who argue with themselves Those that loose the argument  Quote
D. Allan Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Quote: Weird is beautiful. Normal is boring, full of itself for no reason, and tedious. With apologies to Emily Dickinson: Poem # 288 "I'm Weird! Who are you? Are you - Weird - Too? Then there's a pair of us? Don't tell! they'd advertise - you know! "How dreay - to be - Normal! How public - like a Frog - To tell one's name - the livelong June - To an admiring Bog!" Quote dAb O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
Nicodema Posted September 22, 2006 Author Posted September 22, 2006 Yeah well weird is only cool if it's unique and organic and spontaneously arising. When people try to make a trend out of it, it becomes banal and stupid ... even moreso than bologna-sandwich-normal. I can't stand it when people attempt to "out-weird" each other. :barf: Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
D. Allan Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Yes, that wasn't very original! But it was spontaneous. Quote dAb O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
Nicodema Posted September 22, 2006 Author Posted September 22, 2006 No hon, I wasn't referring to you!! Just in general. ;-) Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
Joy Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 "Without deviance there can be no norm." That was my favorite thing I learned from Sociology class. On fitting occassions I bring it out as sort of an un-official Motto. Quote
