People who know me know that I am a very strong advocate for the Investigative Judgment, however, I admit that I am not particularly latched on to that specific day. It is whenever Yom Kippur was in 1844.

 

It was changes that were occurring in that time period where we were happening; such as increased communication with the telegraph, the key to understand ancient languages starting with the Rosetta Stone, and how in the late 1830s Robinson's first visit to the Bible lands opened the door for serious studies in Biblical Geography and archaeology and the re-discovery of the ancient world. Ancient thought processes point out how events on heaven and earth reflect each other.

 

In heaven the unfallen review the lives of those who claimed in one way or another to have accepted God into their lives. They see if they really did, and if so, what difference did God make in our lives. This helps them to get a clearer understanding as to their own salvation. On earth, we entered a time where we could start to study, to investigate the Bible as never before.

 

In the synoptic gospels the Last Supper was Passover; but in John the Crucifixion was Passover. But different Jewish groups had different ways of calculating. The last supper was very likely the Essene Passover, often a few days earlier than the temple Passover (the Thursday night Passover is only in recent centuries. with only a few hours for all the events. Ancient tradition had it on Tuesday night, Jesus spending Wednesday in a cell where the Sanhedrin met, then all day and evening Thursday for the events and Jesus on the cross Friday morning). So Jesus did not freak out about the days the way we do. He apparently kept the Essene Passover in the last supper, and fulfilled the events of the Passover on the Temple Passover.

The cleansing of the sanctuary is accomplished through the investigative judgment. The filth from which the sanctuary must be cleansed is actually the record of sin recorded in the Book of Remembrance. The record book is examined to see who actually lived a Christian life. Those who are found faithful remain recorded in the *Book of Life. Their sins recorded in the Book of Remembrance are blotted out. The sanctuary is defiled by the record of sin recorded in the Book of Remembrance.
