Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 27, 2022 Moderators Posted December 27, 2022 Bear 609 living in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park was a friendly bear who became a bit too close to humans. She learned that if she joined people eating at a picnic table, she could soon have the entire table of food. If she took a back-pack home, it just might have some interesting stuff in it that she would like. So the officials decided to relocate Bear 609 to the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee, which was 150 miles away. As part of a research study, she was fitted with a GPS collar. But Bear 609 was not satisfied with her new home. She decided to return. At one point she was photographed attempting to enter a shopping mall, but she failed to find an open door. In her journey, she walked more than 1,000 miles. But, she made it back home and is resting up from her long trip.
