GHansen Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 This couple had the right idea but the plan was not implemented well. The larger portion of health care dollars are spent during the last months of a person's life. The surviving spouse could be left impoverished by the hospital costs of the other. Quality of life often is not an issue for health care professsionals. Jewish medical ethics, for example, indicate that the breath itself is sacred. This results in massive waste of medical resources without reference to the quality of life, all in the interest of preserving the breath. Welfare recipients will demand that every possible medical intervention is implemented. Since the people themselves are not impacted by cost, it is left to the taxpayer to cover astronomical bills for futile treatment. One afternoon a jovial chap walked into his friend's room on an AIDS unit, shot his patient friend in the head with a pistol and then himself. No waffling, change of mind, regrets. Quote
