Sulla Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Has any one noticed the Christian example the Amish have shown after the school shooting at one of their schools? I have been very impressed. For example when they started raising money for the families of the children the also raised money for the killers family. They made sure to tell the killers family that they did not blaim them. Then we hear that the oldest girl 13-year-old Marian Fisher told the killer to shoot her first trying to spare the younger girls. Quote

And now we hear of Adventists that are scared of a pocket knife. Sounds like Marian Fisher knew she was ready to meet her Creator and there are a few Adventists that arn't so sure. Sulla Posted October 8, 2006 Author Posted October 8, 2006 Yes I think growing up without being bambarded by out media and with the Bible as your main study would help a lot. By the way whats the reference to the pocker knife? Quote
aldona Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Have a look at the other thread on this forum about the guy who brought a pocket knife to church. I've been following the Amish story with a lot of interest and I agree that they are a fine example for us. I pray that if my life is ever threatened in this way, God can give me the grace to respond with similar dignity and courage. We hear so many stories about the courage of Christian martyrs in earlier times who were not afraid to die for their faith. Can you imagine any of them pulling out a weapon and trying to defend themselves by force against their persecutors? Isn't this the message that Christ was trying to teach when he instructed Peter to put away his sword in the Garden of Gethsemane? Whatever happened to the idea of "do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul?" aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music?
