Dr. Shane Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 In the final episode of Season 1, we see Jesus heal the mother-in-law of Peter. Before that happens, Jesus has a conversation with Eden, Peter's wife. The writers of The Chosen wrote this scene for the wives of pastors. There are many sacrifices that must be made by a pastor's wife. An old cliché says that behind every good man is a good woman. Well, I am certain that behind every good pastor is a good spouse. My wife is my greatest cheerleader and strongest supporter. She has found a support system with the wives of other pastors in our area and those wives have helped my wife to be supportive in many ways. Ministerial spouses are critical to the ministry. At minute marker 1:25 Jesus tells Eden that she has a role to play. That is something my wife's oldest sister told her when she learned that her baby sister was marrying a pastor. There were three brothers between my wife's birth and that of her older sister. So, her older sister has played a motherly role in her life as much as a sisterly role. Thus, my wife came into our marriage prepared to serve in ministry with me. I also want to point out something else I noted in this video clip. At minute marker :48 Peter says he is going to sell his nets. Jesus tells him to put his nets down. Notice how quickly his brother Andrew obeys. Am I a Peter or an Andrew? I have been a Peter too many times in life. (A point of clarification: I am ordained as an independent minister and work as a part-time hospice chaplain and counselor. I have never been an Adventist pastor). Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
