Are these people helpful? Who can provide information about them?

I suspect they do not approve of wearing jewelry but have no problem withholding tithe from the conference.

Spirit-led searchers of bible truth.

Recognize that they have not yet accepted the Sabbath doctrine and enjoy their studies. Just keep an eye out for places where their doctrine differs from what you were taught, and restudy that portion, rejecting error and accepting truth.

SDA's do not have the corner on all truth. Abba uses many avenues to open new kernels of understanding to minds searching under the direction and blessing of the Holy Spirit.

Considering that they are non-denominational... you're right.. they probably don't tithe to a conference.

My reason for asking was because this site was recommended by an author who has a new book on Daniel which is causing some controversy.

One of the statements she made was that the ceremonial laws are part of the moral law.

I recognize some of the names on their list of guests to their retreats, and they are people known to be rather conservative Adventists.

"Are these people helpful? "

Just glancing at their web site, I have to say they wouldn't be helpful to me. I'm way too liberal. They'd squash the soul of anyone but the weakest of liberals. If you know what I mean..... Paul said, "when I am weak, then I am strong."

...for others? maybe they would be helpful?... i find it difficult to understand how. Sorry.

Hi Gail: That would be untrue to Scripture. The ceremonial law was given because men transgressed the Moral law.

I don't know anything about this group or the author that you mentioned. I consider myself to be a pretty liberal Christian compared to others. I know a wonderful woman online who is a Messianic Christian, and she has opened up so many new insights to me. She believes that the levitical and ceremonial laws still apply to us today...with grace. I have been so touched by the things I have learned from her. As a family we have been observing Passover for the last two years, and it has been such a tremendous blessing to me! Even just learning about how to relate to the Jewishness of the gospels...is so beautiful. Her ministry is so important for reaching Jews. I think Christianity today feels so foreign to most Jews...when it should envelop them and feel familiar. I didn't really have a point, but talking about the ceremonial laws got me to think about my friend. Like I said, I don't know anything about this group, but I think that observing the ceremonial laws can be done without becoming legalistic..I have seen it applied in someone's life. :-)

I don't like the labels "conservative" or "liberal" but use them for lack of better terms. However those that do not believe in paying tithe to the church becuase they believe it is too corrupt or has become Babylon, I refer to as "historic" Adventists becuase there are many Adventist members that call themselves conservative and pay their tithe to the church and do not believe the church is in apostacy.

Those "conservatives" are good people. So are the "liberals." angelnot

The "historic" one --- they are free to believe as they want, and God bless 'em. I'm thankful that they didn't take over the adventist Church.

I heard of one sda church that went 'congregational.' That might be a good way to go in these days. saywa Each church would have the means to respond appropiately to the unique local community needs. Hmmm?
