Yes, there are honest telemarketers.  But, generally the honest ones do not call me as I am on the "do not call" list.  So, when I get a call I know that they are in violation of the law.

I wonder if your mother-in-law could get rid of her landline and manage using a cell phone in order to reduce the number of telemarketer calls?

This year, my bank has replaced a credit card three (3) due to fraudulent activity. They have now issued me a care with a chip in it. 

Sounds like someone may have some of your personal information and that you may have initiated a credit alert with the credit bureaus. I have done so as a result of the Target and Home Depot breaches, but the credit alerts last for only 90 days. If you can prove identity theft, including evidence presented to law enforcement, you can get a permanent credit freeze.

Despite the loss of in-home internet, the cancelation of landline phone service has been the cure for telemarketers interrupting our evenings. Even so, we do access the internet on a limited basis with the cell phones.

Incidentally, before cancelling the landline, my wife made a $20 donation to some charity, and within the next few weeks, ten or more so-called "charities" were calling for donations. I have no idea whether or not the charities were legitimate, only that my wife sent them each a $20 donation. That was the point when I cancelled the landline.

Upon cancelling internet service from Frontier Communications, the company charged me $180 for early termination of contract despite my attempts to get the fee reduced or cancelled. Needless to say, I will never be a Frontier Communications customer in the future, especially considering the overcharges when I first began internet service with that company.
