Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted October 26, 2006 Members Posted October 26, 2006 I don't know about other folks, but I'm having a REALLY difficult time trying to follow many of the theological/Biblical/Adventistical threads right now. It's as if a few people are trying to be so convincing in their arguments, that they're using too many unclear, ambiguous words, unfamiliar and righteous-sounding, but rather meaningless words (imho). Then they go back and re-state (I think) what they thought they meant (I think), but I'm still constantly thinking *HUH????* Makes me want to give out an award, but I haven't the vaguest idea who to give it to: (sorry - I'm not a good artist) Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

When threads become this tangled I find it best just to put the entire thing on ignore ... scan and let it go. I am thankful for them because they make me turn off C/A and open my Bible. If it was difficult the first time just think how bad the second time around would become! I love your medal ... Great idea! Good drawing! Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted October 26, 2006 Author Members Posted October 26, 2006 y'know....it isn't that I don't think the issues are important. I think they probably really ARE. It's just that I don't have a clue how to put most of the ideas together to make sense in my mind. Faulty spiritual genetic brain connections, I guess. Administrators Gail Posted October 26, 2006 Administrators Posted October 26, 2006 How can anyone understand the deep things of God? It is only as He reveals it to you through the Holy Spirit. You hear of people who were in the church for all their lives only come to know Christ in their later years. What clicked? Did the Holy Spirit only begin to open their understanding after a very long time? Was the heart not tender enough? Was God playing tricks on that person? We know that God wants to make the connection! So... what happens in the meantime? Probably confusion, explaining why discernment is one of the gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor.12:10) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Parade Orange Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 I must confess.. when it comes to a fussy thread..... my eyes glaze over the screan til I see a nice word or person then read a few sentences to see if its fussy then a sigh relief if its not fussy and continue to read and really be informed. I have had glazen eyes a few too many times. At the risk of sounding shallow, ignorant, or just plain lazy, I really don't think it is important to understand the deep things of God. I will go so far as to say that I think trying to really understand "it all" can be another of the evil one's traps. I am relatively certain that there will be those in Heaven who have never heard of the many things we spend hours dissecting/discussing and making it much more complicated than need be. I do believe we will be given the light/understanding we need at the time when it is necessary for us. I believe we should study our Bibles and pray for understanding, for wisdom. Love The Lord and keep his commandments .. love our neighbors as ouselves. If we do these things I sorta think everything else will work itself out Gail, I just reread your post and realize that I am going in a completely different direction. I started to delete, but somehow it feels ok to post it ... even pitching from left field. Besides, can't remember when I posted so many "I Believe's" in only one post. Look Alive! Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 I must confess..when it comes to a fussy thread..... my eyes glaze over the screan til I see a nice word or person then read a few sentences to see if its fussy then a sigh relief if its not fussy and continue to read and really be informed. I do this a lot too ... I don't mind when people disagree with me or have another point of view -- that doesn't bother me at all. It's when they have to be NASTY about it that bothers me. What is so hard about simply saying "I disagree with you about X, and here is why ..."? Why can't people just stick to that instead of having to try to totally discredit you as a *person* like you're "evil" or a "deceiver" or something? That's just mean. I freely admit I get worked up too, not claiming sainthood here. But yeah Gay4Jesus, I totally do that, and on heated up topics especially. If I know someone has done that nonsense before I will skim to see if they are being reasonable. If they are, I will read. If they are not, I skip that message. Quote "Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? if any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's." -- 2 Corinthians 10:7

gina i Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Pam, I have a hard time joining in a lot of threads theological as well. I find that a lot of people use 'big' words & it totally takes away from the whole thing. That's why I just stick to posting bible verses. And even then people don't respond for some reason. Or they do respond, but not to the verses I post. It's very odd. Quote All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
