Gynandromorphism

Gynandromorphism is a condition  in which animal life seems to have the characteristics of both males and females.  The second URL below has the photo of such a bird.  This condition appears in multiple forms of animal life.  Generally, it is not thought to appear in humans.  There are at least four (4) recognized forms of this condition.  The bird below has the bilateral type. Others will propose more than four forms.  From this perspective, I consider that the term may be poorly defined.  As I understand the various forms, some seem to relate to genotype and others to phenotype.  I consider this to be a major issue in reading the literature on the subject.  I come from a perspective that I think that it can exist in humans on the basis of either genotype or phenotype.  But I would think that the best definition of the term would be limited to genotype and that another term should be used when related to phenotype.  Anyway, to stimulate your thinking, click on the following URLs.
