Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted February 3, 2024 Moderators Posted February 3, 2024 * The Supreme Court originally ruled that President Biden's forgiveness of certain student loan debts was illegal. * There is nothing in that ruling that would make President Biden a criminal for taking his action. Criminal law does not work in that manner. * President Biden than made changes in the manner in which his decision to forgive certain student loan debt was forgiven and in addition he made changes in the actual debt to be forgiven. * To my knowledge, the Court has not yet ruled that decision to be illegal. Until such a ruling occurs, that forgiveness is not illegal. Perhaps, it will be ruled illegal in the future? NOTE: On a personal basis, I have always questioned whether President Biden had the authority to order forgiveness of the student loans. But, my questioning does not make it so. phkrause 1 Quote Gregory

Extending it with a slightly revised version, admitting he 'didn't think it would pass muster but would give him time to pass out more funding before it went thru the SC even after his White House counsel agreed that the move would be unconstitutional Quote
