German and Yiddish

Nat King Cole's hit song Nature Boy  was number 1 on the song charts for several weeks around 1947. The song was written by Eden Ahbez, who was raised for a time in a Hebrew orphan's home in Brooklyn.  After his song was recorded by NKC, he was sued by a player in Yiddish theater named Yablokoff. The claim was made that Nature Boy sampled his song Shvayg Mayn Harts [Be Still My Heart]. Shvayg Mayn Harts, in turn, apparently sampled Dvorak's Piano Quintet No. 2 in A, Op. 81. While denials were all around, Ahbez did have to pay up, a good sum of money. Rumor had it that song built the Capitol Records building in Hollywood.
