George W. Bush to throw out World Series first pitch

Former President George W. Bush, the former Rangers owner, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Texas plays the Arizona Diamondbacks in the World Series opener tonight (8 p.m. ET on Fox).

• This'll be Bush's fourth World Series ceremonial first pitch but his first before an opener, AP reports.

Bush threw out the World Series Game 3 ceremonial first pitch on Oct. 30, 2001 — just after the 9/11 attacks. Wearing a bulletproof vest, he delivered a decisive strike over home plate.

• Bush later recalled that as he warmed up beneath the stands of old Yankee Stadium, the Yankees' Derek Jeter told him: "Don't bounce it. They will boo you!"

Fun fact: Bush, 77, is younger today — 14 years after his presidency, than either President Biden (80) or former President Trump (77, a month older than Bush).
