Now, I could be wrong, and I have read in antiquarian books where dragons are described and believed in. But as actual entities/beasts, do you think they REALLY did exist??? (and I'm not talking about the antidiluvial beasts that roamed the world, i.e. dinosaurs). And if the dragon is not a real beast, *why* does the Bible refer to dragons? Which leads me to a completely question: Why do some people get upset about their children watching dragonslayer cartoons??? Like, it is okay to read about dragons in the Bible? Dr. Shane Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I know there are creationists that believe dragons were real. There were a type of dinosaur or perhaps the Biblical word for dinosaur. The problem with dragonslayer cartoons and other such programming is its secular nature. They often incorporatre mysticism into the programs and Jesus is not uplifted at all. bevin Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Unless we have both a picture or accurate description or a long literature tradition, it is hard to decide exactly what a noun used in the Bible refers to, and hence what the corresponding modern noun would be. We have little / no idea which animal the Bible writers were referring to with the words translated 'dragon'. Deut 32:33 Neh 2:13 Job 30:29 Ps 44:19, 59:13, 91:13, 148:7 Is 13:22, 27:1, 34:13, 35:7, 43:20, 51:9 Jer 9:11, 10:22, 14:6, 49:33, 51:34,37 Ez 29:3 Mic 1:8 Mal 1:3 Rev 12: 13: 16: 20: It is interesting (a) owls get mentioned in the same breath, ( Egypt is one lying in a river, © They have dens and palaces (d) They snort Now consider all the animals the ancients would have heard of and encountered Hippopotamus, crocodiles, elephants, rhinos, big sharks, big snakes, bears, Komodo dragons, giant tortoises... Also there are the occassional discovery of fossils of huge prehistoric beasts - dinosaurs and others. There are lots of candidates, and no reason to believe that all the references are to the same species. /Bevin Quote
