Profits And Payouts Over Passenger Safety

While the companies responsible for the door plug that blew out of a plane in mid-air last week were cutting corners, outsourcing manufacturing, laying off employees, and working to evade expensive safety upgrades, they paid their top executives $817 million and showered Wall Street investors with $68 billion in dividends and stock buybacks over the past decade.

Will Biden Rescind Trump’s Boeing Immunity Deal?

Allegations of fraud in a recent federal lawsuit — if substantiated — could empower President Biden’s Justice Department to rescind a controversial deferred prosecution agreement granted to Boeing by Donald Trump’s administration and blessed by an archconservative judge in the wake of two 737 Max crashes, according to experts interviewed by The Lever.

US judge rejects Boeing’s plea deal in a conspiracy case stemming from fatal plane crashes

DALLAS (AP) — A federal judge on Thursday rejected a deal that would have let Boeing plead guilty to a felony conspiracy charge and pay a fine for misleading U.S. regulators about the 737 Max jetliner before two of the planes crashed, killing 346 people.

The Return Of Boeing’s Sweetheart Deal. The Trump administration dropped criminal charges against Boeing for its fatal 737 Max crashes, letting the manufacturer off the hook without a trial or even a guilty plea.

? Yet another Boeing crash. Just days before Boeing’s now-defunct criminal trial for its deadly passenger jet crashes was set to begin, a London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner carrying 242 people crashed this morning shortly after taking off in India, killing everyone on board. Boeing, meanwhile, was just let off the hook by the Trump Justice Department for its fatal 737 Max disasters without even a guilty plea. This comes after The Lever reported the company might have violated the terms of its first nonprosecutorial agreement by ignoring “an excessive amount of defects” produced by one of its suppliers.

• Boeing’s Dreamliners have been the subject of widespread safety concerns, including whistleblower complaints from an engineer who witnessed Boeing take “shortcuts” while manufacturing the plane. Meanwhile, a recent incident saw a Dreamliner disconnect from autopilot and dive 400 feet mid-flight due to a cockpit seating malfunction. And another Dreamliner whistleblower was mysteriously found dead last year.
