Photo: Courtesy of Apple Franklin Armstrong — the first Black character in "Peanuts" — is the subject of a new special debuting tomorrow on Apple TV+, Axios' Russell Contreras writes. ?️ "Peanuts" creator Charles Schultz added Franklin to the mix in 1968. A few newspapers told Schulz they wouldn't run his cartoon if he continued to have a Black character, but he refused to back down. The new special, "Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin," will follow Franklin as he moves into Charlie Brown and Snoopy's neighborhood.
